Ghana Region holds International Safety Conference and Awards 2018 at Accra

OSHAssociation UK Ghana regional International Safety Conference and Awards 2018 was a huge success, the event was attended by top government officials and HSSE professionals from the public and private sectors, including international delegations from Nigeria, Benin Republic, Togo, etc.

The conference was declared open by the Deputy Minister for Aviation and Member of the Parliament, followed by a Keynote speech from the Minister of Defence represented by Brigadier General Sarka E., the Chief of Staff to the Minister.

All participants appreciated the technical paper presentation from seasoned safety experts, including presentations from Environmental Protection Agency Ghana, which was concluded with an interactive panel discussion between the participants, the regulators and the professionals.

In line with the agenda of the conference, Hon. Kwebina Darko the Deputy Minister for Aviation, a Member of the Parliament, and the Chief of Staff to Minister of Defence were conferred Fellows of the Association by Engr. Thomas B., Regional President of OSHAssociation in Ghana, based on their commitments, inputs and passion for Occupational Safety and Health in the industry and in the society.

“The issue of safety is everybody’s business. It is to ensure safety of lives and properties and the government is putting necessary policies in place to ensure safety compliance in the aviation sector and other sectors, because the present administration understands the usefulness of safety standard to our economy”, Hon. Kwebina Darko the Deputy Minister of Aviation said.

One of the Administrators of the Association Engr. Emmanuel Uwalaka made an inspiring speech for safety professionals to remain focused and maintain professionalism in the sector.
